This is the first of out shorter Tuesday Social Walks & will be covered at a very gentle pace. The route initially explores the extensive, now nature reserved, network of disused railways & tramways located immediately south of Preston city, before undertaking some beautiful riverside sections through to the stunning Victorian gems of Avenham & Miller Parks where lunch will be taken. There are toilet facilities located in the park together with a cafe should anyone require any hot drinks etc. In the very unlikely event of rain there is some sheltered seating available in the park. From the park the route continues alongside the river before turning back through farmland & woods to the start point.

The walk in a hard surface one so I would recommend walking trainers or light boots. Apart from two very short and slight assents the route is flat.

I would also request that members please pack a sharp pair of eyes to try and spot the family of Otters currently is residence on the River Ribble in the general area of The Parks.

All please note the slightly later start time than normal of 10.30.

The Hunters public house will be open for post walk refreshments if required.
