Parbold in Lockdown

I hope you are all well and above all healthy whilst in lockdown at home. Do please keep sending in your stories or photos, whether to be featured here on the West Lancs LDWA website or on Facebook.

Once a day I go for my hours exercise, which is generally a decent circular walk around Parbold including the Leeds Liverpool canal but with an alternative option of a walk through Hilldale and up to Hunters Quarry and back via Stoney Lane. I have taken a few photos which can be found via the link below. Each day the light is slightly different so hence a few repeat photos. It is amazing quiet and people generally keep to 2m even on the canal towpath, which is not always easy. And the weather has been lovely over the last three weeks, which makes being at home quite bearable.

As you might know I still work, which has almost become full time recently. The companies I work for have on the whole been lucky and seen an upturn in trade. The most obvious one is a manufacturer of lead x ray aprons near Burnley, which has had orders from some of the new Nightingale Hospitals and has turned its hand to making PPE equipment including plastic visors. There is also the cycle company in Yorkshire, which is doing good trade as people turn to cycling to keep fit, whilst furloughed or working from home. A third company also based in Yorkshire, which provides networks and phone systems, has also seen an uplift with more and more people working from home.

Stay safe and a big cheer from me for all those who are still at work keeping us going but in particular those key workers in the NHS, carers of all kinds and the Asda checkout employee at my local supermarket.

Thanks Neil
