A route around the boundary of the town, the lowest point at 140m & the highest at 355m. The route is crossed by the Trans Pennine Trail & also by the main Barnsley - Huddersfield railway line

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
