Sunday 9^th February 12 hardy souls met at Emley Church as some had parked at the Car Park just off school lane.

It was a grey overcast day with rain promised later we began this 13ml Denby Dale Circular.

IT quickly became apparent on us way to Clayton West it was going to be a claggy day where every field path had us all slipping about

Over the packhorse bridge in Clayton West took us to Kaye’s Millenium Green and the creepy crawlies in the trees.

Once we admired the totem pole at Cliff woods and Park we entered Skelmanthorpe  elevenses were took in Denby Dale in Churchfields overlooking its impressive Railway Arch.

Just after elevenses we took a route we recognised (ed. It was on us T-P100 route) but a new addition was apparent, being a long way from the sea imagine our surprise when we came across a Pirate (Ed. Not an Irregular member) and his Ship!

Second short stop of the day saw us stop at Roy’s house in Upper Cumberworth where we were treat to a tipple of Port, Brandy or Whiskey, just what the doctor ordered as the late morning had turned a little chilly.

Lunch was taken at Lower Cumberworth and the Cumberworth United Cricket Club, but it had turned somewhat Baltic and 20 minutes later we were off to more slippy sliddy paths.

Just after lunch we saw the Emley Moor Mast (ed. Just the bottom bit, it had been a pea souper of a day) but stayed dry. We were treated again to the Keithley Light Railway where a couple more wet paths up hill saw us back to Emley in good time.
