A Wander Round Wilton - 7th July 2012

Following a Friday of non-stop torrential rain we all feared the worst when it came to the weather, but on the day of the walk and by some miracle, the early morning mists cleared and the sun blessed us for the rest of the day.

Eight brave souls, given the weather the previous day, left Bishop Wilton in bright sunshine to walk a loop to the north of and back to Bishop Wilton through Bugthorpe and Kirby Underdale. Much of the morning's walk was around arable fields and fortunately the local farmers had been out and cut the grass on the field footpaths otherwise it would have been really wet underfoot.

A pleasant half hour or so was passed in the very welcoming "Fleece" at Bishop Wilton where we sampled several of their local cask ales and enjoyed some splendid chips.

The afternoon walk took us back up onto the Wolds through Great Givendale and back to the finish via Meltonby & Yapham.
