A Hovingham Hobble 14th July 2013

Just nine walkers braved the early morning rain for what quickly turned into a superb walking day through wonderful rolling scenery. We started from Coneysthorpe crossroads near Castle Howard and wandered through the Howardian Hills to Hovingham Village where we paused for our morning break on the village green. Our route then took us along the valley to Slingsby, up and along Coneysthorpe Bank and down to the pub in Appleton le Street where lunch was taken. The afternoon saw us cross the ridge near Easthorpe Hall, with views across Ryedale towards the North Yorkshire Moors, and return through the wonderful Castle Howard estate. A big thank you to Roger for organising another stunning walk.
