Don't Slip in the Splosh - Nov 2015

A total of 11 walkers gathered at the Clayton and Frickley social club on what promised to be a bit wet underfoot.

Tom & John Hughes led us off at 8:30am towards Grimethorpe nature reserve (regenerated pit tip) over the top we went and headed towards Ferrymoor Flash where we came across the first of many sculptures today.

Most of this morning’s walk took in a large circular route within the Dearne Valley Regeneration area.

Towards Cudworth and finding the Dearne Way just before Edderthorpe we had a little detour to count as many funny faces as we could (rather smart carvings into the rock outcrops along the enclosed valley. After a brief interlude with today’s bovine collection (Red Poll Cattle). We made our way back to the Frickley club for a short lunch (that included a bit of pork pie).

Ooh nearly forgot, John H took hell of a tumble just before Clayton and gashed his head pretty bad.

Suitably refreshed the short afternoon section took us towards Hooton Roberts and back in time for last orders….nearly J

Thanks Tom & John for another cracker not far from home.
