Lively From Lepton - Joint with Calderdale LDWA

A bit different to find us this far West in February but joining Calderdale LDWA on this dry but cold and blustery day at 08:30am from Lepton church car park.

Jane (our leader) outlined the day with a warning of mud!

Nine folk and two dawgs braved the conditions towards Grange Moor but had some lovely views with Lepton being quite high views over the surrounding countryside was sublime.

Once through Grange Moor the first big climb of the day towards some lovely houses, we had Elevenses on Thornhill Edge.

After coffee we followed the edge path all keeping our eyes peeled for some escaped £50 notes….

Arriving in Middlestown then Coxley with it’s Mill complex the mud around these parts was something to behold. Once through Stoneycliffe Wood nature reserve where the smell of freshly cut wood greeted us at Ernshaws wood yard. Yet another muddy path saw us find Midley Golf.

After a lady’s quick pit stop another long straight muddy field edge has us find Bank Wood where we had lunch on some cut logs.

After a visit by Ernshaws wood warden we were off towards Emley where we were treated to some Saturday football then a climb in earnest began up to Emley Moor. Once level with the mast a quick lane took us back to our cars in a good time ready for the hours’ drive back to South Yorks.

Many thanks to Jane for leading
