The Sheffield Round

The Sheffield Round Walk 15th December 2018.

6 hardy walkers met at Sheffield station on a very cold and dry morning with a forecast of rain and snow. We made our way to Endcliffe Park the official start of the walk where a park run was in progress, a good way to spend a Saturday morning.

We walked up Porter Valley a hive of industry 200 years ago where grinding wheels driven by water were finishing the cutlery manufactured in the city. We continued up Porter valley, sites of many grinding wheels, stopped at the Forge dam for a sandwich and then up to Ringinglow and then back down the Limb valley and Ecclesall woods.

We passed through Dore past the station and thro Ladies Spring wood and continued through the many parks of Sheffield past the ancient Bishops house and finally returning to Endcliffe Park our official end of the walk.

We continued down Ecclesall road back towards the station calling at the Beer House and then the Sheaf Island pub to celebrate our Christmas walk the on to the station. We managed a 20 mile which was enjoyed by everyone.
