The Wanderlust Way - 2023

We all met up at the side of the Barn for an 08:30am off. This Social walk lead by Lorna was the Wanderlust Way, re-named in 1990 from The Bradley 20 to commemorate the life and work of James Neville Cole (1916 – 1989).

It was a little overcast first thing and we all noted that the Wednesday before a hoolie was promised. Anyroad all 13 of us were on our way to see if our waterproofs got a wetting.

So from Wold Farm – Wold Newton onto G&L Johnson Silver Lincs Way

Leaving the G&L way into East Ravensdale and it’s impressive church.

On the way to Hatcliffe we passed a lovely memorial seat and the roads and fields showed signs of a downpour but a blowy day was beginning. In Hatcliffe we met up with The Nev Cole Way and elevenses were took in Bradley Wood.

Plenty of field edges took us to Beelsby then the Landal Golf and Spa complex.

After some minor roads and more fields we came across the Ship Inn – Barnoldby le Beck for well-earned refreshment.

Ashby Cum Fenby next and the afternoon was turning pleasant then high-legs through a field we came to Brigsley

A little more minor road and we turned a corner and boom the panorama of the River Humber was a sight to behold, we could make out Grimsby and Spurn Point (the bridge was round the corner to the left)

Walking along the escarpment we eventually came to Wold Newton and the many barns.

Were we found our cars after 20mls in lovely company, weather and route.

Many thanks Lorna for leading.
