Terry's New Passport to Yorkshire 18th May 2013

Terry's New Passport to Yorkshire - 18th May 2013

Eight walkers decided to ignore the forecaster's dire prediction of a full day of heavy rain and despite the awful forecast turned up for what proved to be a splendid walk. Within thirty minutes of the start of our walk the fine drizzle stopped and we were delighted to pack away our waterproofs for the rest of the day. The walk was a variation of Terry's classic "Passport to Yorkshire" challenge event around the wonderfully scenic Pennine foothills area to west of Barnsley taking in historic Wentworth Castle, its deer park and its grounds, Silkstone, Hoylandswaine, Hood Green and Worsborough Country Park. The splendid scenery, wonderful bluebell carpets in the spring woodland, Terry's depth of local knowledge and a leisurely lunch in the hostelries of Hoylandswaine all contributed to a terrific day's walking. Our thanks go to Ruth & Terry Griffiths for a great days walking.
