A Penistone Perambulation

Nine hardy souls braved another Perambulation in Roy’s neck of the woods. And some got a nice bunch of rhubarb.

Three of our party were Scotland bound next week for the Speyside 100.

One in our Party was a checkpointer

And one was a new member of East Yorks visiting relatives and Penistone was on her way home, ish.

Leaving Penistone we followed the Trans Pennine Trail on the very pleasant Upper Don Trail.

We had some nice views this morning before elevenses at The Underbank Rezzie. A route through the ‘old’ road towards Stocksbridge along the Sheffield Lakeland Loop, The Steel Valley Walk arriving at the Fox Valley shopping complex then some more surprising views opened up when we came across The Delf Quarry of Hunshelf.

The afternoon saw us pass more views and a rather large bull in a field, some sheep then parts of the Thurgoland Boundary Walk, Cheese Bottom, Penistone Bounday Walk, Oxspring Jubilee Walk 2012  then a decision was made.

A certain someone in the group knew of a Trig point just off path. Not everyone took part in the ascent but just as we topped said hill what came into view… Not a single Roy walk can find Emley Moor Mast!!!!!!!

We arrived under the Penistone Viaduct, the Village hall used as CP2 on the Trans-Pennine 100. Back to the Para$mount in good time and all had a great day.

Many thanks for leading Roy, another fantastic walk.
