A Wander around Ingham

Another great day in our adjoining County Lincolnshire saw six of us out with Lorna leading once again.

So leaving Ingham saw us onto some lovely muddy fields not seen for a while these took us towards Fillingham and the rather large ponds

From here we had a bit of road walking but we had aplenty of roadside flora to admire, Crab apples, Hawthorne berries and Sloes were in abundance. Elevenses taken we came across Sturgate Airfield, the carriageway must have been part of the complex at some time or another. We made our way to Upton and the Chippy (one of the last coal fired fryers left in the world).

Passing the local Sunday League Wembley we came into Kexby for lunch at the All Saints. The afternoon saw most of us remove outer layers as it had become unseasonably warm.

After lunch we came to Willingham by Stow where another bit of road (but this time with (good views over Cottam Power Station) took us to Sturton by Stow where we TL at the Victorian School (with the separate entrances).

By now we could see the black rain clouds over yonder, but was they going to miss us… On our way to Saint Ediths (Coates by Stow) it didn’t half bang it down for 15 minutes.

Then the farmyard!  But we were treated to a lovely rainbow along Long Lane back towards our car in Ingham

Many thanks once again to Lorna for leading.
