Lorna's Scampton Scamble - March 2022

Februarys Social walk was another lovely day weather-wise, it had a cold wind but stayed dry.

Leaving Scampton with a promise of a pint in a very special pub not visited since 2014 we were off, 13 with visitors from Lincolnshire and them Pirates LDWA.

Along fields saw us cross a major road to Lincoln then along a woodland path all the way to the outskirts of Lincoln, the best elevenses stop then ensued.

Castle Square Lincoln with the Cathedral and Castle made up for the long walk through Lincoln town.

After Elevenses we made our way along Foss Dyke towards the old Racecourse eventually arriving back at Scampton but as with most LDWA things a loop was required…

After a visit to the church we went up the hill to the perimeter fence of RAF Scampton (Home of the Red Arrows) to make our way along to find another path back to the cars at The Dambusters Inn

The pub we had lunch at in 2014 was now a very different pub, before a proper dinking pub now a ten bob millionaire pub still with a very much nod to Bomber Command.
