Beds, Bucks and Northants LDWA

Hello Everyone

New Members
A very warm welcome to Nick Masterson-Jones (Primary) and Laure Selle, Marion Perrett-Pearson, Hugh Potter, Christopher Upton and Margaret Mackay (Associate) - we look forward to meeting you on one of our group walks or challenge events.

Walk Leaders’ Contact Telephone Numbers
Following problems on our last two Thursday walks it transpires that walk leaders’ contact details are being removed from the LDWA website at 00:01 on the day of the walk. The IT team are looking into this. But for now, if you plan to do a group walk, please make sure you note the leader’s phone number before the day of the walk.

Thursday Walks
Sara’s Ampthill Amble Pop Up Walk on 18th April is the last walk on the calendar for a Thursday. Many of you value the Thursday walks judging by the high attendance numbers. If you want the walks to continue please offer to lead one. Don't worry if you've not led before, there are plenty of us to help you. Don't worry if it’s a walk you've done before - no one will care, they just want to be outside walking with congenial company.
Sara’s contact information is here

This week’s walk
Saturday 13th April -
Day 2 of 6 of the Outer Aylesbury Ring
20ml. From Startops End c.p. Marsworth. Ldr: Trevor Jones
This is the second in a series of circular days walks based on the OAR – but do join Trevor for a normal group walk, via the Grand Union Canal, Great Seabrook, Horton Wharf and Mentmore. Returning via Cheddington Station, Horton Wharf, Ivinghoe and Pitstone.
Trevor writes that the going is very muddy so boots, gaiters and poles are recommended. Dogs are allowed but I need notification and will limit numbers to 3 as there is some road walking without pavements.

Later in the month
Thursday 18th April - Ampthill Amble Pop Up Walk
16ml. Ldr: Sara Waldron  From  Ampthill Great Park, walking in the general direction of the Greensand Ridge, with a coffee stop at Clophill Old Church and a lunch stop at Silsoe Village. The Star & Garter pub may be open (for drinks only).
A note from Sara: Some people might like to go to Wrest Park for their picnic and toilets at lunchtime. However you have to pay to use the facilities, so I'd suggest ii you are an English Heritage member you bring your card along.

Sunday 28th April -
Spring Strolls From Silsoe
19ml. From Silsoe Community Sports Centre. Ldr: Dee Brockway
A figure of 8 walks, with a café stop at lunch time.

Full details of all BBN group walks and challenge events can be found here: Our Walks
