Day 2 Outer Aylesbury Ring - Saturday 13th April 2024

Leader: Trevor Jones

Jim Blakelock:
What a beautiful day for a walk in the countryside. Just four of us on this walk. Starting out from Marsworth, out along the Grand Union canal to Horton and then across country to Wing via Mentmore and Ledburn. The menagerie at Ledburn has grown. The wallabies now have their own expanded enclosure and there are a couple of coypu and pigmy goats to see. Lunch was at Wing.

We then left the OAR for the walk back. Lost count of the number of deer we saw along the way. The dry weather meant that the promised very muddy tracks were disappointing. One section towards the end of the day took us through a lush meadow. That was tiring to push through the long grass. Great views of Ivinghoe beacon and the lion of Whipsnade before rejoining the canal for the last mile. Thank you to Trevor for a great day.
