North Chiltern Trail Herts Section Taster -Thursday 6th August
Leader: Terry Brown
We set off heading south west, across parched fields towards Mangrove Green. Didn’t see any mangroves, green or otherwise. After Cockernhoe (no cocks or hoes) we headed more easterly. Tea break was at Breachwood Green where we could watch the planes fly low overhead on their final approach into Luton airport. Then on to Whitwell, turning more northerly and across the River Mimram, where Alfie (the dog) could have a good drink from the clear stream. Lunch was at St Paul's Walden, some choosing the church to stop at and others sampling the wares of the Strathmore Arms pub. Then back north west towards Preston (which I mistakenly though was somewhere near Blackpool and we had taken a massive detour) for another very brief stop on the picturesque green. From there, it was a short jaunt back to Great Offley.
