The Nene Valley Kanter was first held in June 1986, organised by Roy Presland - it was the first challenge event organised solely by BBN.
The 1986 event was based in Thrapston, but moved the following year to its permanent HQ of Wadenhoe Village Hall.
In 1989 and 1990 the event moved to Yardley Hastings whilst the hall at Wadenhoe was being rebuilt.
The NVK ran yearly from 1986 until 1996; the intention then was for it to be held on the alternate year to the biennial Chiltern Kanter.
It was held again in 1998 but, with the advent of the Rutland Venture in 1999, this was the last NVK until a one-off special held in 2003 to celebrate BBN’s 20th anniversary.
In total there were 13 NVKs, all organised by Roy, supported by his wife Janet.
