A Thank You to Gill & Sara Walk - Thursday 3rd September 2026

Leader: Roy Dunham

It was a beautiful day to say goodbye to two outgoing BBN committee members, Sara Waldron Walks Secretary and Gill Bunker BBN’s Secretary for many a year.

After a quick ceremony where Roy Dunham our leader received a BBN mug for leading his first walk, we left the Forest Centre car park at the Marston Vale Millennium Country Park through woodland, passing Millbrook station heading for Lidlington before we headed up a very steep hill to a viewpoint with excellent views across the Bedfordshire countryside. (A great place for morning T-break, but it was not to be).

At 11.30 we stopped for morning T-break at some ruins, 15 mins later we were off again. We weaved our way through Holcot woods out into the countryside for more great views, then into Marston Thrift SSSI heading for Cranfield and lunch at The Swan.

After a very nice 40 minutes we started our final leg back to the Forest Centre, it was not long before we could see the single wind farm where we had parked the cars. Skirting Marston Thrift SSSI and Lower Shelton we crossed over the A421 and back into Marson Mortaine and the Forest Centre CP to end a very enjoyable day in the sunshine.

Well led by Roy, we had a great day in the Bedfordshire countryside, some very steep hills and plenty of sunshine, a very nice farewell to Sara and Gill. And of course a big thank you to Gill and Sara for all their hard work over the years.
