Chefs' Choices in the Chilterns - Saturday 8th August
Leaders: Norman****Ramsay and Nigella Bunker
Well, the 10 folk and Alfie the dog who chose to join Norman Ramsay and NiGILLa Lawson for this excellent walk in the Chilterns certainly made the right choice!
Sadly a flat tyre and excess Guinness the previous evening prevented 2 of the expected walkers from joining us.
We began with a welcome brief from big chef Ramsay, sporting a large boiling pan and food mixer (of course using his usual ‘fruity’ language) and the much lovelier NiGILLa with a more decorative serving spoon and tasteful chopping board.
This beautiful section of the Chilterns including Ivinghoe Beacon and the picturesque village of Aldbury never ceases to impress.
Of course as we walked along the canal towpath, thankful of a little shade on yet another very hot day, and we neared the end and closer to the much anticipated cakes, excitement and expectation grew. We were not disappointed.
Together, as the happy group we had become, we teamed our considerable dietary resources to enjoy, not just yummy cakes….carrot, choc brownie etc….but also, to name the ones I can recall, chocolate milk shake, berry burst smoothie, cream scone, Apple something, lattes, tea, Cornetto and even a sausage roll! .
Of course, this wonderful walk was not just about the culinary delights at the end, but they certainly made a good walk great!!
