Norman Corrin - LDWA Volunteer Award

Norman Corrin received his Volunteer Award for his work for the LDWA at the National AGM on the 17th March.
Conbgratulations to him - a well deserved award. He was nominated by the NEC and his nomination was wholeheartedly supported by BBN.

Norman has been a member of the LDWA since 1981 and was an early member of the fledgling BBN group.

He is one of the foundations that our group has been built on and he has contributed immensely to BBN’s success as a local group.  As well as leading walks for us, he has organised one of BBN’s most popular challenge events, the Chiltern Kanter, and has been a member of the committee several times over the years.

Norman is well known for his wonderful sense of humour – from his enjoyable speeches at BBN’s special events to his comments on the photographs he posts on Facebook. We are hoping, though, that he masters the art of the Selfie – everyone has become very familiar with that thumb!

His byline is “My indecision is final” and “23.59” is a realistic timescale for delivery on the due date, but his events and walks are always well organised and are enjoyed by everyone.

BBN members have enjoyed 19 Christmas walks, all led by Santa in full regalia. Surprisingly Norman has never been out on one these walks - though Santa does appear to have a touch of the Scouse. We’re still trying to work that one out!

After last year’s LDWA  AGM the role of Membership Secretary remained vacant. The following morning Norman volunteered to take on the role. That is just the sort of man he is. Always willing to help, even if it means more work for himself.

Norman has played a huge part in the success of the BBN group – he is a team player, loves the LDWA, and is always thinking of new ideas and things for us to do. We are immensely proud and grateful that he is a member of our group.

He thoroughly deserves a Volunteer Award for the massive contribution he has made to the LDWA since he first joined all those years ago.
