Jervaulx You Know! | Wednesday 27 July 2022

Walk Leader: Jill King
Participants: 9
Mileage: 12 miles
Walk Report: Jill King
Weather: Early mist cleared to a very warm and sunny day

Harmby village has a public car park next to the village hall with associated sport facilities.  It is the start of the Afoot in Two Dales and we used the same route for the first half a mile.  Field paths brought us to near Ushaw bridge then past the impressive Danby Hall and church to Thornton Steward, long associated with the monks of Jervaulx.  Having crossed the 500 year old Kilgram bridge and on to the magnificent parklands of the abbey, Jervaulx was founded in 1156 by Cistercian monks who came from Bylands.  A pleasant track alongside the river Ure then the Cover brought us to Cover Bridge and we did by-pass the pub - honest!  The route was reversed back to Harmby and relief to get out of those hot trainers.

Thank you to the group today, lots of chatter and a pleasure to have your company.
