Weather: | Cloudy, little wind, warm for the time of year |
We met at Tadcaster bus station at 8.30am, seeing a couple of the town highlights (Tadcaster Albion and two of the breweries) before leaving via Stutton towards Hazlewood Castle. We passed the Castle Park racing gallops, and navigated through an 'amazing' field of head height corn (think North by North West) before arriving in Aberford for morning coffee.
The route then took us past Becca Hall and into Bramham Park (home of the horse trials and the Leeds Festival). We passed Bowcliffe Hall, then went into Bramham village and sat in the churchyard for lunch. We then headed to Windmill Hill, taking the track towards Newton Kyme, encountering an enormous tractor and plough, then a tribe of hungry goats, to join the Ebor Way path along the Wharfe back into Tadcaster.
The weather was unseasonably warm, but cloudy making for perfect walking. Thanks to all for coming and their company on the day.
