Ribblehead | Saturday 16 July 2022

Walk Leader: Paul Rodgers
Participants: 3
Mileage: 21 miles
Ascent: 3,750 ft
Walk Report: Paul Rodgers
Weather: Sunny and warm

We set off from Ribblehead in a mist but the low clouds soon lifted as we ascended Whernside via the Dales High Way and Cable Rake, and the sunshine stayed with us for the rest of the day.  From the summit of Whernside we descended to White Shaw Moss in Kingsdale before climbing to the County Stone where the counties of Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria meet.  We then entered Lancashire and made our way to the summit of Green Hill, the highest point in the county, where we took in views of Morecambe Bay and the Lakeland fells as well as the Three Peaks.  Following a couple of miles of ridge walking we descended to Yorda’s Cave and then returned to Ribblehead via Twistleton Scar End.
