Just a short report this week - after all how many ways can you describe heavy rain, gusting wind and paths virtually blocked by rushing water!  The photos below say it all.  "Watergate"?

Undeterred by a forecast of almost certain moderate to heavy rain all day, our happy band of six set-off on a wisely revised route from the architectural masterpiece of Ribblehead Viaduct.  Why clamber to the top  of Whernside shrouded in cloud and with almost no visibility when we could "stay low" (our leader's words!) and wade through paths turning into raging torrents and a field of unyielding cows (and bull) blocking our way.  Suffice it to say we made our way safely to Dent mainly via the Dales High Way/Craven Way where we had our morning coffee stop (thankfully in the shelter of the church).  A unanimous decision to cut matters a little shorter and retrace our steps was followed by excellent refreshments in Dent's (inappropriately named) Sun Inn - which re-energised us all for our even wetter and windier return journey.

As usual an entertaining day's outing with terrific camaraderie and teamwork to ensure safe passage there and back.  Thanks Andy.
