A pleasantly warm day saw six walkers turn up for the Ullswater Way with three from North Yorks and three from Northumbria group.
Starting from outside the Pooley bridge hotel we followed a well sign-posted route keeping the lake to our right during the morning via Howtown. Lunch found us between Patterdale and Glenridding approx half-way. By now we were meeting a steady flow of Macmillan charity walk participants. We later learned some 2 500 had taken part raising £1 million in sponsorship.
We pressed on now with Ullswater to our right to visit the impressive Aira falls. This was followed by a steady climb to Memorial seat in full sunshine for a well-earned break and enjoying panoramic views of Ullswater. Onwards then to Wreay where the route took us over farmland before a short wooded section back into Pooley.
Thanks to those who turned out.
