England Coast Path on Walney Island - July 2023

On a day when the forecast was decidedly iffy, a determined group set out to walk the newly allocated section of England Coast Path around Walney Island close to Barrow in Furness.  We were guided round by Stephen Dunstan, who is a good ornithologist so we learnt a little about the birds we can encounter on the island.  Highlights included the Grey Headed Crow (I think just two based here and quite an unusual sight we are told, but also along the shore the sea lavendar was looking very pretty.  And proper seaside waves were a treat for those of us used to the Grange and Arnside areas of Morecambe Bay.  Thanks to Stephen for leading the walk, and for saving the bit of rain for the last couple of hours which was perfectly acceptable!
