Hello and a warm welcome to the Lakeland Group. We are a friendly bunch of Long Distance walkers who enjoy social walks as much as challenge events (perhaps even more) and walk at a pleasant pace with walks that are long but not too crazy long! Given our location, we are often to be found on hills too. We love the Lakes but also walk in the Dales, Lancashire and Forest of Bowland and further afield for weekends away. We tackle Long Distance Footpaths in sections or as a short holiday too. We love exploring and welcome suggestions for new walks.

We have an exciting walks programme going forward.   Future walks are posted on here and the next couple is listed on this page.  We also remind members via the bulk email system so make sure you are signed up to receive these via your national membership page if you would like to receive these.

We look forward to welcoming new members to a walk.  If you are unsure about attending and want to know more about a walk, contact the walk leader or lakeland@ldwa.org.uk and we will try to give you plenty of information.  Our pace is always to suit the slowest person on the day, whilst still getting round the miles, and we often find a pub or a tea shop at the end as we are a sociable group.  We emphasise social for our social walks and challenge for the events! Basically, we will take care of new members.

If you are local and could help us with our flagship events - That's Lyth or Spring in Lakeland then you would be made most welcome checkpointing.  Just contact us to let us know via the email above. Any contributions for this website are welcome, particularly photos and walk reports. Please send to tgrs013@yahoo.co.uk.  We are also keen to put more walks in our programme and especially welcome new leaders - don't worry we will always help a new leader on the day and it is fun!

Happy walking, Lakeland Group.
