Spring in Lakeland 24 or 50 Miles 2027
Spring in Lakeland 2026 - Results are here
Spring in Lakeland 2027 will take place on Saturday and Sunday 10 and 11 April 2027
Save the date, for this exciting new option. We will have a new loop, enabling walkers to enjoy a 50 mile option as well as the usual 24 mile route. And the new start loation (Coniston) will mean you experience your old favourite route, in a different way, with a couple of route changes to spice it up. (Be sure to study the route description and GPX this year)
Entries will open 15 October 2026 - pop back here for the link.

Regrettably we can't allow dogs on this event, as it is peak lambing time in the Lakes.
Please remember to bring a mug as we are working hard to reduce single use of plastic. Also remember you will be going up to 400 metres when you cross the pass before Coniston. On a wet or windy day it can be very cold in April so remember those spare layers and gloves and hats.
Car Parking spaces, can be booked as part of your entry fee options, at the John Ruskin School in Coniston , from where the event registration and start will take place. The Post Code here is LA21 8EW.
Registration will be open from 7am, with a mass start at 8am. There will be toilet facilities at the School, along with camping facilities and showers for those taking part in the 50 mile option. You will be able to leave a change of clothing for the half way point. Please do not leave any valuables as we can take no responsibility for belongings left - we are unable to monitor them throughout.
We won't be providing refreshments before the start as we don't have access to a kitchen until later on. Hot or cold drinks and snacks will be provided at Ambleside, cold drinks and snacks at Elterwater, a finish meal or mid route meal will be served back at Coniston (at the Coniston Institute). Those on the long route will then be offered hot and cold drinks and snacks at Seathwaite Parish Hall, Broughton Victory Hall and Nibthwaite Parish Hall (Water Yeat) before a hot meal at the finish. There will be gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options at all checkpoints so do ask the marshals for help if you can't find what you need.
All entrants on the 50 mile route are requested to please ensure you have somewhere suitable to take a sleep before driving home (unless you have a local chauffeur of course).
Supporters will be welcome at most checkpoints but PLEASE not Seathwiate Parish Hall or Water Yeat. Please respect the locals when arriving at checkpoints or the finish during the hours of darkness. Locals would prefer to sleep! This year we will be issuing certificates by email for saving or printing at home, as this saves on administration on the day and keeps costs down. A link to download your certificate will be sent out in the week after the event.
If anyone is bringing a relative or friend to the event who is not walking and fancies helping at a checkpoint we are always glad to welcome them into our team. Just email lakeland@ldwa.org.uk and we will find you a task!
Many thanks to Peter Salenieks for sending us some beautiful images as he set off early walking and captured pictures of the landscape and many of the entrants on their way round. They are all here for you to enjoy. Landscapes first, then novelty photos of odd quirky bits and bobs that Peter spotted along the way, and towards the end if you scroll away you might just find photos of yourselves amongst the entrants' photos.

Here are photos of happy (we hope) entrants
