Four passes walk report - 5 August 2023

We met at 08:30 at Rosthwaite Institute. After some difficulty with the parking meter, the nine brave souls departed despite the adverse weather forecast. During the day we experience several showers but thankfully none were sustained, and the high wind predicted was not present.

Visibility was good with the tops free of cloud most of the time. We had a short break before the long climb of Black Sail Pass. Late lunch was taken at the Youth Hostel where there was an honesty “self-service café”. Anne kindly topped up the honesty box enabling those that wanted to get a hot drink and or a snack.

Anne and Julie “retired at the bottom of Honister Pass (Anne did not feel well), they got the next bus to finish.

We trudged onwards and upwards along the unrelenting miner’s incline. The seven of us returned to our starting point. We had a tough but enjoyable day out. Grateful that the weather was better than predicted.

As leader, my thanks to all that attended despite the adverse forecast……until the next one!
