Milton Keynes Boundary Walk Part 3 - 13th May 2023

Leader: Mary Knight

Well that's it then, 7 intrepid walkers left Astwood for the last section of the MKBW to Newton Longville for the 21 mile hike.
The poor old bus driver asked what time are you being picked up, when we told him that we were walking back he didn't believe us.
We walked for 1.5 hours, then had our tea break. We stopped for lunch after about 11 miles in Woburn Sands. We called into the Fir Tree pub for a beer then we headed for a green space where Greg Rutherford's epic long jump is remembered so we could eat our grub.

We had no rain but then we did not get much sun either. Nick did try leading us off course but Mary's leadership skills were second to none and soon put us back on course.
We stopped for afternoon tea break looking over the Vale of Aylesbury where i phoned Sylvie to tell her where we were, and she came out to meet us near the new estate called Newton Leys.
We left Astwood at 08.30 and arrived in Newton Longville at 17.00. We had a great day and the woods were spectacular.
I had parked in Sylvie's drive so had to walk another 500 yards to my car.
I was going to watch the Eurovision song contest at Cineworld, Northampton so i grabbed pie and chips from the chippy, had a brew with Sylvie then headed straight for Cineworld dressed as I was.
There were only about 30 people in the cinema, but I managed to stay awake for the duration of the contest, although I got a bit fidgety for a while. I got in my bed at 00.45 to get up again at 06.00 for the Waendel Walks where I did the 25km route.
