The first Chiltern Kanter was held in 1977, organised by Brian Graves. Initially it was an Essex & Herts event – the early events pre-date the forming of the BBN group in 1983. The CK was run jointly by BBN and E&H until 1993 when BBN took over the sole running. The CK then alternated in March each year with a new E&H event, The 14 Greens.
The event HQ until 1995 was Ivinghoe Youth Hostel. It then moved to Ivinghoe Town Hall (1997). Ivinghoe Old School (1999), (2001 cancelled due to Foot & Mouth), Tring (2003-2011) and Pitstone (from 2013).
The CK now alternates in March each year with the Hannington Hike.
