Dark Peak Boundary Walk

Derbyshire, Gtr Manchester, S Yorkshire, W Yorkshire

A circuit of 81 miles around the fringes of three great moorland masses of Kinder Scout, Bleaklow and Black Hill that comprise the Dark Peak. The route is mainly high level but linking these sections a variety of terrain including gritstone edges, bridleway tracks, field paths, sheltered wooded cloughs and numerous reservoirs. The bleak and wild moors of the Dark Peak are never far away and often dominate the views and passes Glossop, Marsden, Hathersage and Bradwell.

June 2025: A 2km section of this Long Distance Path is scheduled to be closed between SE 021029 (above Chew Brook) and SE 036018 (the south west corner of Chew Reservoir) from 25th May 2025 to 26th January 2026. The path/track may be open outside of work hours and at weekends.
