Steel Cotton Rail Trail

Gtr Manchester, S Yorkshire

The name of the route is derived from the steel workers of Sheffield and the cotton mill workers of Manchester who used the railway to escape from the cities into the Peak District countryside. It is divided into 14 sections, ranging from 2.2 to 8 miles, corresponding to the number of stations on the Hope Valley Line and was created by the High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership and the South East Manchester Community Rail Partnership.

Individual leaflets for each section can be downloaded from the path's website and the route is waymarked for much of its length.
