Could you help shape the LDWA’s future? We are looking for members to join the National Executive Committee as (i) the IT and Internet Officer and (ii) Environment and Sustainability Officer.
With our new digital platform now being built, the IT role offers an exciting opportunity to build on that substantial work, guide future improvements and help members, local groups and event organisers get the greatest benefit from our online services. If you enjoy turning ideas into practical improvements, this is a chance to make a lasting difference to how the LDWA supports its walking community. The IT officer is supported by a team of volunteers so detailed technical knowledge is not necessarily essential and training will be provided.
The Environment and Sustainability role offers the opportunity to champion responsible walking and help our groups and events reduce their environmental impact. It will also involve liaising with the large landowning bodies like Forestry England and National Trust, especially where our events wish to use the Public Rights of Way through them without charge.
To find out more about either voluntary role, please contact Madeleine at chair@ldwa.org.uk for an informal conversation. If you’re unsure whether you’re qualified, but these roles interest you, please do still contact Madeleine as there may be other opportunities. The Environment and Sustainability role is currently vacant so anyone could start now if they would like.
