Lewes Station (8:24 train from Victoria, 8:31 Clapham Junction, 8:40 East Croydon)
A circular walk over the Downs above Lewes, starting at the Castle and finishing at the Priory via Blackcap, Castle Hill Nature Reserve, Telscombe and Swanborough. A mix of the South Downs way and lesser used footpaths
General Notes
19 miles at a brisk pace over undulating terrain (2600 ft total assent).
Picnicking - bring your own food and water. No facilities (wooded areas for first half of walk).
Bailout point after 12 miles (1.6 miles to bus stop for Brighton).
Finish about 5:30, trains from Lewes back to London every 30 mins.
Sunset is at 5:50 so best to have head torches.
