1. New members
A warm welcome to new associate member Valentin Dupuy.
2. 2027 Capital Challenge
The 11th Capital Challenge will be on 10th April 2027. Entries will open on 1st November 2026. An SI entries page will be set up. The newsletter will report when that is ready.
London group members are encouraged to volunteer - and get a gratis entry to the Marshalls' Walk on 20th March 2027. It is London Group's one challenge event of the year and we need volunteers to make it successful. We will ask for names in October.
3. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training
There are still some places left on Carrie's training session. See the walk details below for 25th August.
4. Walk leaders needed
As yet there are no London Group walks planned on the weekends of Sep 26/27, October 10/11, October 31/Nov 1 and Nov 21/22. If you are willing to lead a walk on any of those weekends please contact london.walks@ldwa.org.uk.

Greenwich Meridian Trail - Part VI New Addington to Oxted
Event Type:Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / London
Start Time: 18:00
Route: Meet at New Addington tram terminus. The route starts at New Addington tram terminus (frequent trams from East Croydon) and finishes at Oxted train station. Some of the route covers the Vanguard Way. A surprising 300 metres of ascent.
Notes: This is the last of a series of mid-week walks covering the sections of the Greenwich Meridian Trail (GMT) which fall within the M25. (The GMT is a route which follows as near a possible the zero degree longitude/Prime Meridian line.)

Saturday 22nd August
Suffolk Delights - An out of town Sudbury circular
Event Type: Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / Suffolk
Start Time: 9:20
Route: Meet at Sudbury Railway Station. Car parking at station. Train users take the 8.02 from Liverpool Street (8.09 at Stratford, 8.25 at Shenfield) and change at Marks Tey. Long Melford and Lavenham to admire the 2 famous wool town churches with a plentiful supply of ice cream and an opportunity to explore Gainsborough’s town.
Notes: Bring picnic, plenty of water and food. Moderate pace. Please let leader know, ideally via WhatsApp or text, if you wish to come; ideally the day before so he can update you if there are any necessary changes to travel details or the route. This will be a joint walk for Norfolk and Suffolk (as it is all in Suffolk), Essex and Herts (as it is just over the Essex border) and London (as there is a train station here 1 hour from the end of the Elizabeth line).

Tuesday 25th August (that's next week, not tomorrow)
Six Stops to Seven Sisters
Event Type: Group Walk.
Region: Southern England / London
Start Time: 18:00
Route: 60-62 Margaret Street, London W1W 8TF, Through back streets near Warren St and Euston, Kings Cross, Pancras and Granary Squares, Regent's Canal, Barnsbury, Highbury, Emirates Stadium, Gillespie Park and Finsbury Park to Seven Sisters. Optional pub near the finish.
Notes: The walk will be preceded by a chance to learn how to do Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation at the Resuscitation Council UK. The session will start at 17.15. Please email Carrie if you wish to attend.
