Saturday 11th July 2026

Orpington to Bromley South

Event Type: Group Walk.

Region: Southern England / London

Distance: 20 miles

Start Time: 9:15

Route: Meet at Orpington station. Train from Victoria at 08.27 or one from Charing Cross 08.45, London Bridge 08.54 both get in at 9.09. Meet at the main car park side, near the bike racks. From Orpington to Knockholt via High Elms country park. Early lunch at Knockholt about 12:00 ish. There is a pub, a small convenience store with snacks and drinks, and a green next to the pub for a picnic. Recommend bringing your own sandwiches. From there we pick up the North Downs Way, and wind our way to Downe for a short tea stop at Christmas Tree Farm. Or if we have enough English Heritage passes between us, we could get into Downe House for tea. From there, it's over to Wilberforce Oak, and across Keston and Bromley Commons and Norman Park to Bromley South for the trains home at about 5pm.

Notes: Please NO DOGS: we will be crossing through fields with livestock and lambs. Lovely countryside, mostly up in the morning, and down in the afternoon, with some lumps and bumps along the way. There are several short sections of the path that have become overgrown with brambles and nettles. Long pants might be a good option. Walking about 3 miles an hour, with some opt out bus stops along the way for those that would like a shorter route if it's a hot day.
