Saturday 17th October

Ashdown Forest C to C

Event Type: Group Walk.

Region: Southern England / London

Distance: 21 miles

Start Time: 9:00

Route: Cowden station (train departs London Bridge 08.07. East Croydon 08.22). Into Ashdown Forest over the Pooh Bridge to the Milne/Shepard Memorial, then a route through the forest to Crowborough.

Notes: The first Winnie the Pooh book was released on 14 October 1926. As this is the nearest Saturday to the centenary it seems apposite to do a walk in the area that inspired the stories starting and finishing at stations beginning with the Roman numeral for 100. There is a cafe at the projected lunch spot but bringing your own food/drink is advised in case of any issues. As it's a centenary walk the leader will probably walk an extra 1.5 miles to the local Spoons to bag what should be his 100th Wetherspoons as it seems an appropriate moment to do so!
