General Notes
We are heading further north in the Eleanor Crosses pilgrimage but still within an hour of a main London station so I hope you will join me, particularly as you will get to see one of the original mediaeval crosses today. Today's route is fairly flat and includes a good section of grand union canal. We start in Northampton, see the cross, head down the canal to Stony Stratford, which was once the site of another cross and also home to the famous Cock and Bull inns of 'cock and bull story' fame. For those who like a pub at the end, we will break with tradition and have a stop at one of these historic inns. Then a simple two mile walk to Wolverton, from where you can catch a train back to London. Please bring packed lunch and plenty of water, as well as headtorch as sunset is at 4.13pm today.
