Terry's Traditional Christmas Cracker - Thursday 12th December 2024

Leader: Terry Brown

Terry's Traditional Christmas Cracker on 12/12/24 was another great day out with the BBN. Only 11.5 miles though to allow for an extended lunch break in Leighton Buzzard where there was a good selection of eating places.

27 walkers, including a couple from Thames Valley, one who came all the way from Yorkshire and a couple of new walkers who had not walked with us before left the car park by the Three Locks pub at Stoke Hammond at approx 09.15 and headed out onto the Grand Union canal for a short distance, before we left it and headed across the countryside and through beautiful woodland heading for Rushmere country park and then to Stockgrove country park where we had a 15 min morning T break (the little tea room was open for coffee etc..

After T break we headed off towards Leighton Buzzard where we enjoyed a 1.5 hour lunch break where we enjoyed a beer (or 2) (or 3) in the pubs and even food if you wanted it. We had walked 7 miles to Leighton Buzzard so we only had 3.5 miles left to walk back to the cars along the Grand Union canal.

We enjoyed good weather all day, no rain but slightly foggy which added to the mystical effect of a winter’s day. Nice one Terry.
