Another excellent day out on the Waendel around Northamptonshire. 10 hardy walkers left the Embankment cp at 9.30am and headed out towards Irthlingborough Country Park, then across fields to Farndish and on to Wollleston for T break.
Then on towards Summer Leys WT Nature Reserve, the flood between 2 lakes had gone down a lot but was still high enough to get your feet wet if wearing trainers, so a few took the detour around the lake to keep their feet dry.
Then skirted Summer Leys WT along an old railway line to turn right to cross a field, then followed the R Nene (or is it Nene}** to a lock, turning right to follow a track uphill to Earls Barton where we had lunch.
After lunch we headed in to Gt Doddington, then over fields to Wilby where we had a pint in the Horseshoe. DFH, Merrian and Gill went on to finish the walk and head for The Red Well (Wetherspoons).
After a beer we headed for Crowland Park and on to the Embankment and back to the cars.
And the sun shone all day.

Meriian's homework:  I found this on Wikipedia: The pronunciation of the river's name varies by locality. In Northampton it is usually pronounced /?n?>n/ (NEN), and around Peterborough it is usually pronounced /?ni?n/ (NEEN).^[5] The point at which the pronunciation of the Nene changes has been moving further inland for many years; the current edition of the nautical publisher Imray's "Map Of The River Nene" suggests that it now begins at Thrapston.
