Marston Vale Timberland Trail - Thursday 22nd August 2024
Leader: Sara Waldron
What a great day following Sara around the Timberland Trail from Marston Moretaine.
We headed off to join the Greensand Ridge walk and John Bunyan trail past the car proving ground at Millbrook, which was very hilly to say the least. We had a few very steep hills up and down before we arrived at one of the BBN benches near a golf course for T break. 10 mins allowed then off we trod again heading for Ampthill town centre where we stopped for lunch at 12 noon, we got half an hour there.
As we passed close to Lidington station we passed a house selling flower boxes and bird boxes, at the end of the walk I went back and bought 3 flower boxes.
We passed Houghton House which stood high up on a hill (back in the late 80's the camera club I was in took a model there for some photos).
Back at Stewartby we walked around Stewartby lake to arrive back at the visitor centre and the cars.
A beautiful day, plenty of woodland, we had sunshine, cloudy skies and a very gusty wind but the rain held off.
An excellent walk. Cheers Sara.
