Day 5 of the Outer Aylesbury Ring - Saturday 17th August 2024
Leader: Trevor Jones
I would summarise the day as Picturesque Villages and Historic Churches.
I have driven past Haddenham on many occasions, and never really paid much attention to the village. But walking through the quiet side streets, the quaint cottages such as those at Fort End are absolutely gorgeous. Cuddington is another village with beautiful architecture.
At the Hermit Pub at Dinton/Ford where we stopped for lunch, most of us were on soft drinks. But Gill had a glass of cider. Upon remarking that she was the only one drinking alcohol, she replied: “I’ve a lot to put up with”. (Draw your own conclusions.)
A great day out and only one more leg of the OAR to do. Looking forward to it.
Churches visited along the route:
St Mary’s Church in Haddenham
St Michael’s Church at Aston Sandford
St Nicholas at Cuddington
St Nicholas at Nether Winchendon
St Mary’s Church at Ashendon
