Greensand Ridge & Kingfisher Way - Saturday 3rd August 2024
Leader: Francoise Bannister
It was a little overcast as the 12 person BBN walkers ‘jury’ (for ‘verdict’ see later) set out from Sandy to ‘judge’ sections of the Greensand Ridge and Kingfisher Way. Franciouse, our leader, quickly outlined our route and we were delighted to greet 2 folk new to BBN social walks, Ric and Krystyna.
There was much ‘evidence’ for the ‘prosecution’ proving, beyond doubt, it was a really lovely walk. This included beautiful paths by the River Ivel and a well earned cafe break at Jordan’s Mill.
The ‘opposition’ meekly cited a fallen tree blocking our route (mitigating circumstances, it was not down on Francoise’s final test walk only 2 days earlier) as evidence but they underestimated the resilience and resolve of these LDWA walkers who rose to the challenge. Limbo dancing, high hurdles plus various other techniques saw all safely over. They came, they swore (nice, acceptable swearing of course), they conquered as Nick so aptly explained.
So to the ‘verdict’. A great walk lead by a lovely French lady who leads more than her fair share of BBN walks and spends a lot of time devising great routes and doing lots of recce walks to make sure all goes well on the day.
Thank you Francoise. You gave 11 fellow jurors a brilliant day out.
