Rammamere Ramble - Thursday 25th July 2024

Leader: Jim Blakelock

AHOY THERE ME HEARTIES!

Well, for those who did not make Jim’s Rammamere Ramble, you missed a treat. We set off on time from the cp and headed along the towpath for about a mile or so, then headed inland and walked through some lovely woodland towards our T break at Stockgrove Park, where we were allowed about 20 mins or so.

Then off we trod towards Gt Brickhill cricket club where we were treated to a game of cricket while we ate our lunch. After lunch we only had a few miles to go so off we jolly well went. After about 15 mins we were back on the towpath and heading back towards our cars.

Now I have been walking with the BBN for around 30 years but I was about to be treated to a BBN first.
We arrived at Stoke Hammond lock with only a mile or so left to go and there were a couple of retired working boats in the lock heading for Linslade and a show there. With them was BBN member Mike Bowley and, after a bit of a chat, we ended up on the boat that was being towed all the way to the Three Locks near Stoke Hammond (which is where we started). Now is that a first or what. What a brilliant surprise.

A beer in the Three Locks pub afterwards, then homeward bound. A great walk led by Jim, some excellent woodland walking and a cruise at the end. Nice one Jim, now lets av another one. (Pleaseeeee)
