Wellington Remembered! Thursday 30th November 2023

Leader: Jim Robinson

Wellington ? ….. We met on the village green at Woodford by The Duke ph, The Duke of Wellington visited the village - his pal General Arbuthnott lived in nearby Woodford House.
Our mid-morning break was near The Round House between Finedon and Cranford which was built in around 1820 to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo.
The Duke had commented that the surrounding countryside was reminiscent of that of the Waterloo battlefield.

Steve Clark: What a great walk. Hoar frost on the ground, sunshine and a good turn out. We met at Woodford then headed out through Twywell, Clifford St John.
Morning T break at the Round House, then on to Little Addington for lunch where some headed for the pub.
In the afternoon we went through Stanwick Lakes which looked great in the sunshine. Back in Woodford for 15.30 and a pint of Abbot in the Duke on the green.
Thanks Jim
