The Timberland Trail - Thursday 27th July 2023

Leader: Sara Waldron

14 walkers joined Sara for an anti-clockwise walk around the 14 mile Marston Vale Timberland Trail.  The Trail
From the Marston Vale Forest Centre we headed across the fields to Lidlington with fine views of the Greensand Ridge ahead.  After Lidlington came a few climbs, much steeper than I remembered, as we worked our way via Jackdaw Hill up and down through the woods to join the Greensand Ridge and a welcome morning break by the old BBN bench.
Onwards to Ampthill Park with great views over Marston Vale and an early lunch break.
The Trail then dropped down into the centre of Ampthill, such an attractive old market town with its many historic buildings. Then across the fields to re-join the Greensand Ridge Walk and the compulsory group photo at the new Kings Wood BBN bench. More great views, on through shady woods, then downhill and across the fields of the flat lands, finishing through Stewartby village, around the Millennium Park and Stewartby Lake.

A very enjoyable day, thank you Sara.
