Another Arm of the Grand Union Canal - Wednesday 27th April 2022

Ldr: Graham Jones   11 walkers

Graham Jones: Heart of England joined BBN for ‘Another Arm of the GUC’. 18.6 miles from Long Buckby station, to Northampton station, along the main GUC, before turning onto the Northampton Arm to traverse the 17 downhill locks, and reaching the canal head, where it joins the River Nene. A thoroughly good way to spend a day off work.

Gayton Junction
Robinsons Bridge (No 5) with lock number 5 immediately behind it
Part of Allcotts Bridge (No 6), now spanning a piece of grass
Ceramic seat marking the Northampton end of the arm
Lock 17, and the canal flows into the River Nene.

Steve Clark: What a great day on the canal. 7 of us started at Long Buckby. Weather cloudy but stayed fine.
