Woburn Loops - Thursday 17th February 2022

Leader: Diane Baldwin - 14 walkers

Travelling over to Woburn for the walk evidence of the heavy rain in the preceding days and hours could be seen and it was extremely dull.
Within 5 minutes of setting off on the walk the sun started to shine and although there was a strong breeze the day was perfect for walking.
Underfoot there were some areas of mud but on the whole paths were pretty good condition.
There were 14 of us in total with new member Mark joining for his first LDWA BBN walk and Keith travelling from Essex to join us.
The total walk was just slightly over 15miles with the morning loop of just over 9 miles focusing on a section of the Greensands Ridge Walk, Woburn Estate parkland
and the Safari Park.  There was a lunch break in Woburn followed by the afternoon loop of around 6miles focusing on the footpaths around Potsgrove
and Woburn Estate from Paris House.
It felt more like an April walk rather than mid February.

Some photos from yesterday's pre-storm walk from Woburn. There are a lot, but I`ve left out loads more.
We had a choice at the start, did we go with the Nordic Walking group, with their talk of bacon butties, or Diane's walk?
No contest really ... bacon butties every time !
Lovely weather yesterday, but a bit breezy on a couple of occasions in the afternoon. Surprisingly damp and slippery in a few places, but some of the cross field paths
were pretty good for mid February.
9 miles in the morning and a break in Woburn, then another 6 miles in the afternoon.
A nice day out. Thanks to Diane for being a last minute organiser. We really appreciated your effort
